I would like to share with you how I view healing and how I see the ongoing process of healing as a journey.
- Healing from an acute or chronic condition or illness is different than being cured.
- Healing is what you and your body experience and is an active process; curing (which I believe rarely occurs) is what someone else tries to do to you. This is a passive process for you as you wait to be cured.
- Illness and disease (dis-ease) are caused by imbalances in the body, while healing occurs when the balance and harmony are restored.
- Embarking on a healing journey is about exploring how you got here, where you have been and where you are going next.
- Healing is about making choices to do things differently, in most instances, from what got you to where you are today.
- A Healing Journey can be done alone, but is usually more "fun" done with friends and companions to support you.
- Your best and perhaps only guide on this journey is your body. Your body "speaks" to you in many subtle and not so subtle ways. Embracing your body and making "friends" with it (especially when it is not being or doing exactly what you would like it to) is the first step on the journey. Next is learning to listen to what your body is telling you.
- Your body has innate wisdom, masterfully and miraculously carrying out billions of functions daily. It is through eating, drinking, breathing, and living that we bring either support or challenge to this wonderful form that carries our spirit, which is the energy of life.
- Healing is a continuum. The Healing Journey is a lifelong process and I believe, includes the death of the physical body. There can and will be many events along the way that include "spontaneous" resolution of bothersome symptoms/messages from the body to very subtle and gradual improvements of conditions that may have taken years and decades to manifest.
- Life is a journey, whether it is taken consciously or unconsciously. Healing occurs when we become more conscious.
I look forward to traveling with you on this part of your journey.
